Director's Message
Aloha Ke Akua — God is Love
Higher education is changing rapidly. Artificial intelligence, shifting workforce expectations, rising costs, and questions about the value of a college degree are reshaping how students, families, and employers view education. In this environment, universities must do more than simply deliver information. We must prepare students to think critically, exercise sound judgment, communicate effectively, adapt to change, solve complex problems, and lead with purpose.
At Wayland Baptist University, we believe a meaningful education develops both professional competence and personal character. Employers continue to need people who can communicate clearly, analyze information, work effectively with others, manage competing priorities, demonstrate resilience, and make thoughtful decisions when the answer is not obvious. Technology may change the tools we use, but human judgment, integrity, creativity, leadership, and wisdom remain essential.
Education, therefore, is not simply about personal advancement. It is about discovering and developing the gifts God has given us so that we may serve the world with wisdom and purpose. At Wayland, we want our students to graduate prepared to navigate technological change, contribute meaningfully in the workplace, make principled decisions, and persevere through challenges with courage and hope – “For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,” 2 Timothy 1:6.
We invite you to join a learning community where faith and education work together, where your experiences are valued, and where you are challenged to become more than career-ready—to become a person prepared to live, lead, and serve with purpose.
Persevere in your calling. Develop your gifts. Discover your purpose. Become extraordinary.
