Juror for the exhibition is Lubbock artist and teacher, Pauline Mills, who grew up in Cork, Ireland visiting art galleries, museums and churches before moving to the United States in 1986. Mills’ true passion is art; she pursues many art forms and techniques, focusing primarily on glass mosaics. In 2009, she bought two Lubbock warehouses that have since become Glassyalley, her art studio and instruction space for traditional mosaics. Mills offers mosaic classes in a range of 3D media like jewelry, fabrics, sculpture and stained glass, as well as geodes, quilling and welding, among others. She also creates themed mosaic kits to sell at farmer's markets or for those who are unable to attend her classes. Glassyalley is a welcoming space not just for Mills to create her own art, but as an art gallery and antique shop for the whole community to enjoy and participate in creativity. A member of the Contemporary Mosaic Artists of America, and the Society of American Mosaic Artists, Mills is the only mosaicist currently teaching her craft in Lubbock.
